Bayer is launching Grants4Apps Singapore to foster and support innovative digital health technology in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region.

Check out our challenge below. We will supported selected ideas.

What is Grants4Apps® Singapore?

Bayer is launching Grants4Apps Singapore, an open innovation program to foster and support innovative digital health technology in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region.

In the inaugural round, Bayer is partnering the National University of Singapore (NUS) to launch an open innovation challenge in Singapore and across Asia Pacific. We are looking for innovative solutions to improve medication adherence in elderly people with chronic medical conditions.

Thank you very much for applying! Submission is now closed, we are currently in the process of evaluating, please stay tuned for updates!

Why an open innovation challenge on medication adherence

Asia is facing an aging crisis. This will pose a major healthcare challenge as well, as chronic diseases such as stroke, diabetes and eye diseases accompanying aging will likely rise.

While innovative medicines are being developed to manage these diseases, they would only work in people who take them.

Medication adherence among the elderly population is a complex and multi-faceted issue, and Bayer would like to partner with stakeholders to discover solutions to address this public health challenge.

What are we looking for?

We invite you to generate ideas and develop solutions to improve medication adherence in elderly patients with chronic conditions.

We are looking for novel software, hardware, technologies, or processes that can be applied on particular areas contributing to improving medication adherence. But, we are not simply looking for a reminder mobile app!

We aim to bring different perspectives and expertise together to generate ideas and solutions. NUS and Bayer will be running a roadshow in December 2016 and January 2017 in conjunction with this challenge.

How can I participate?

Please note that all submissions should be made through the submission form found at the bottom of the Grants4Apps Singapore website.

How will my submission be reviewed? What are the criteria?

Your submission will be reviewed by Bayer review teams, together with representatives from external university or hospital partners. The decision to provide support is in the entire discretion of Bayer without any obligation to justify or to give reasons. During evaluation of your submission, we will consider the relevance and assessment of the proposed solution to solve the problem.

We are seeking carefully thought or already started projects rather than ideas. Our interest lies in solutions that can be developed to a minimum viable product in short- to mid-term timeframes, i.e. around six months. In cases where it is not possible to achieve a solution in this time frame, your project may still be selected to receive financial support. The feasibility of the proposed solution will be assessed. We will review your project description and project plan. There are no restrictions on platforms, operating systems, or technologies, but we expect solutions that are viable and up to today’s standards. You or your team should be able to develop and implement the proposed solutions.

We will respond to you within 6-8 weeks after the submission end date.

I am (my team is) not based in Singapore. Can I join?

Yes, this challenge is open to teams in Asia.
